Amelia was born in London in 1974.

Whilst completing a degree in American Studies at Middlesex University and SUNY New Paltz, Amelia used the time to photograph the world around her.

In 1996, she won the Ian Parry award for her social documentary story, Dublin’s Urban Cowboys. In 1998, she won a place on the World Press Photo Joop Swart Master class, in Amsterdam. In 1999, she was runner up for The Infinity ‘Young Photographer of the year’ award by The International Center of Photography in New York.

Amelia’s’ work is broad ranging. Embracing her early love for social documentary, Amelia has brought that style into commercial & editorial shoots. Her worked has spanned the worlds of Film, Fashion, Politics, Music, The Arts & Society. Amelia has been consulted on visual content for a number of commercial clients including De Beers, The British Tea Council, Jimmy Choo & LK Bennett.

She has worked on five of Micheal Winterbottom’s feature films, created publicity images, including 24 Hour Party people.

Amelia’s first monograph, ‘The Trouble with Amelia,’ was published in 2006 by Booth Clibborn editions. This was a visual diary of life in a Man’s World. In 2006 she published Malta Diaries (Trolley books 2006). Half Maltese, Amelia spent summers on the island as a child. Her early work in photography was shot on the island, creating a visual memoir of the people and its identity. In 2015 Amelia published Joan of Arc had style (Trolley books), with an exhibit and launch at The Design Museum in London. The book brought together a collection of commissioned and personal work of Women she had photographed in the past 15 years.

Amelia has worked closely with WomenforWomen in recent years creating moving and still imagery. She has visited Kosovo & Bosnia highlighting the work that is done to help women re build their lives after the devastation of War.

Amelia continues to work on a long term project on Women in the 21st century.

Amelia has been asked to lecture at St Martins School of Art, sat on a panel discussion at WACL, and delivered talks at Getty Images Gallery on the subject of her body of work.

Amelia moved to The East end of London in 1996, setting up a home and studio/exhibition space in The Truman Brewery, Brick Lane (Brickhouse Gallery) . She collaborated with Olympus during this period, hosting shows of photographers & artists, in a time of immense cultural change in London’s East End.

She continues to live in London Fields today, raising her son.
